BPH
Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a surgical procedure used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as an enlarged prostate. BPH occurs when the prostate gland, which surrounds the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body), enlarges and obstructs urine flow. TURP involves inserting a resectoscope, a device with a camera, light, and electrical loop, through the urethra to remove excess prostate tissue.
